Dog’s diet
A dog's diet (just like our human diet) is essential to determining the health of the animal. This diet must be healthy and balanced. If the nutritional and energy content is inadequate, the life of our pet will be neither simple nor healthy. And this improper diet will result in the appearance of pathologies in our dog (in the short, medium and long term).
Today, following a proper diet is not complicated, as there is a wide and varied range of foods available on the market. All we need to do is seek advice and follow the recommendations of a professional. All dogs do not require the same dietary content: their age, sex, lifestyle and various other factors affect this diet.
As we have already said, the best choice to feed your dog properly is to buy a commercially available dog food, as it is balanced and includes all the nutrients the dog requires. In addition, it is the easiest. There are a number of options on the market, with various formulas for each dog's different stages and activities. This option is also more affordable. Otherwise, you would have to prepare your pet's food on a daily basis. After eating, the dog needs to rest. For this reason, it should not be made to run or work, thus avoiding intestinal and congestive disorders.
The number of daily feedings will depend on the dog's age. Following the lactation period (30-40 days), that is, after weaning, the puppy must eat four times a day until the age of three months. From that age to six months, we feed it one less meal: three times a day. And from six to twelve months, one less: twice a day. Then from the age of one year, just one or two times a day.
The amount of food will also depend on the time of year. In summer, for example, it should be reduced, as dogs tend to be less active in hot weather. During this time of year, it is advisable to decrease the amount of food, limiting the fat content slightly. In summer, we do the opposite: calorie requirements are greater.
